Encouragement Devotion: Trusting God When Life Doesn’t Make Sense
God Is Still Good, Even When Life Isn’t
Life doesn’t always unfold the way we hoped. Plans fall apart. Prayers feel unanswered. Pain comes without warning. In those moments, it’s easy to wonder, “God, where are You in all of this?”
But even when nothing makes sense, God is still in control. He sees what we cannot, understands what we don't, and promises to be with us through every twist and turn. His love remains steady, even when life feels shaky.
You don’t need to have all the answers to trust Him—you just need to know He is good, He is faithful, and He is near. When things are unclear, cling to the One who never changes.
God’s Word for Life’s Uncertain Moments:
How to Trust God When Life Feels Unfair or Unclear:
You don’t have to understand everything to trust the One who does. God is still writing your story, even in the pages that feel painful or confusing. He’s not finished—and His goodness will never fail you.
Prayer for Trust in Uncertain Times
“Lord, help me trust You even when life is confusing. When my plans unravel and my heart is overwhelmed, remind me that You are still good, still present, and still working all things together for my good. Strengthen my faith, steady my heart, and help me rest in Your unchanging love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

God’s Word for Life’s Uncertain Moments:
- Proverbs 19:21
"Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails."
— Even when your plans fall apart, God’s purpose still stands strong. - Isaiah 55:8-9
"‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,’ declares the Lord... ‘as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways...’"
— God sees the bigger picture. His ways are wiser, even when they’re hard to understand. - Romans 8:38-39
"Nothing... will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
— No confusion, pain, or circumstance can remove you from His love.
How to Trust God When Life Feels Unfair or Unclear:
- Bring your questions to Him – God invites your honesty; He’s not afraid of your doubts.
- Lean on His character – When circumstances don’t make sense, trust His heart.
- Anchor yourself in Scripture – Let His promises be your foundation in the unknown.
- Look for God’s presence, not just His answers – Peace comes from who He is, not just what He does.
- Remember His past faithfulness – If He’s been faithful before, He will be faithful again.
You don’t have to understand everything to trust the One who does. God is still writing your story, even in the pages that feel painful or confusing. He’s not finished—and His goodness will never fail you.
