Raising Kids Who Love and Trust God

Encouragement Devotion: Raising Kids Who Love and Trust God

Guiding Your Children in Faith is a Beautiful Journey
As a parent, one of the greatest joys—and responsibilities—is guiding your children to love and trust God. You are their first example of faith, and your influence helps shape their relationship with Him. But this journey can feel overwhelming at times. You may wonder, Am I doing enough? What if they struggle in their faith?
The good news is, you are not leading them alone. God is walking with you, giving you wisdom, patience, and the ability to nurture their hearts toward Him. Your role is not to be a perfect teacher, but a faithful one—to plant seeds of truth, show them God’s love, and trust Him to do the rest.
Even in moments when they question or drift, God is always pursuing their hearts. Keep praying, keep modeling faith, and trust that God is working in their lives.

God’s Promises for Raising Faith-Filled Children:
  • Deuteronomy 6:6-7
"These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."
    — Teaching faith isn’t about grand lessons—it’s about weaving God’s truth into everyday moments.
  • Proverbs 3:1-6
"My son, do not forget My teaching, but keep My commands in your heart... Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding."
    — Leading your children in faith starts with trusting God yourself.
  • 3 John 1:4
"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth."
    — Raising kids who love and trust God is one of life’s greatest blessings.

Practical Ways to Lead Your Children in Faith:
  1. Model your own relationship with God – Let them see you pray, read the Bible, and trust Him.
  2. Make faith part of everyday life – Talk about God naturally in conversations, big and small.
  3. Pray for and with them – Teach them to bring their worries, joys, and questions to God.
  4. Encourage curiosity and honesty – Let them ask questions and explore their faith freely.
  5. Surround them with faith-filled community – Church, mentors, and godly friendships reinforce what you teach.

You may not see immediate results, but every prayer, every conversation, and every moment of faithfulness matters. God is planting something in their hearts that will last a lifetime. Trust Him with their journey.

Prayer for Raising Faith-Filled Children

“God, help me lead my children to know and love You. Give me wisdom, patience, and grace as I guide them in faith. Help me to model Your love and truth in a way that draws them closer to You. Strengthen their hearts, open their eyes to Your goodness, and lead them in a lifelong relationship with You. I trust You to complete the work You have begun in them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
